Art can save the world.
It all begins with an idea. CampV was founded on the premise that combining world-class art and the outdoors will produce meaningful, positive change (and an inspiring place to hang out) that would draw people from far and wide. Through our non-profit, WEarts, CampV is home to experiential installations, and we’re just getting started.
Prairie Wind Chapel
by Robert Hoehn
The Prairie Wind Chapel was featured in Business Insider as “one of “the most incredible works of Burning Man art ever made.”
The wind chapel serves as a source of inspiration and a backdrop for events, ranging from weddings to live stream DJ sets.
Electric Dandelions
by Abram Santa Cruz
You would be hard-pressed to find a more impressive light show. The electric dandelions loop through a series of effects each night like a fixed fireworks show. They are utterly captivating.
The Electric Dandelions are made by Liquid PXL and have been viewed in Jerusalem, Toronto, NYC, Las Vegas, and now Naturita.
The Water Tower
CampV’s open air water tower has been repurposed as a place to soak in the history and vibe of the property. It’s home to a number of small group events like Yoga, Sounds Baths, Zendo Stereo Meditation, and stargazing.
The water tower can be booked for events, but most nights it is an open space to relax and enjoy. Day or night, the sound bouncing off the circular metal walls fills visitors with a sense of wonder.
Francis
Francis, a 9500 pound former crusher cone, now lives in the CampV landscape as a non-binary frame capturing a view of the iconic water tank.
With the recent closure of the Tri-State Coal Fired Powered Power Plant, we combined forces with a with a local welder to redirect scrap parts from the Plant into community art pieces. For those familiar with Tri-State, they immediately identify the past purpose while for others this remnant is an unknown artifact from a bygone era.
Take a seat and enjoy the view of the water tower that has become so central to CampV’s identity and events.
The Unknown Zone
by Brooke Einbender
Artist Brooke Einbender has been on a mission to transform old doors into works of art. She plans to construct a “100-door immersive art installation that bridges the physical and virtual realms.”
We are excited her project, The Unknown Zone, includes an installation at CampV. While her use of doors to represent portals of change may trigger deep thought, you are welcome to simply marvel at their beauty, especially as colors seemingly change in front of your eyes when the lights come on.
The Fire Wheel
by Anton Viditz-Ward
Anton is a renowned artist, architect, and founder and manager of the Deep Creek Experimental, an artist collective operating out of a decommissioned limestone mine just outside of Telluride.
CampV is excited to host one of Anton’s massive, human-powered, kinetic steel sculptures. The Fire Wheel rotates via a hand crank, tracing a circle of flame and throwing sparks high in the sky. The Fire Wheel is only lit for special events.
Companion
by Annie Mitchel
Annie Mitchell spent Spring of 2022 creating her light sculpture Companion as Camp V’s Artist-in-Residence. She methodically explored camp for weeks, finally selecting the old water silo as home for the installation. Companion’s delicate strands of light tentacles seem to carry us high off the ground and into space..
Mitchell’s immersive installations are supported by her research in neuroscience and bioecology and the experiences seek to provoke a visceral reaction in the audience. Light and environment discreetly work together to slow time, arouse awe, and measurably lower tension and anxiety.
